Peter Kay Delivers Comedy Masterclass To Salford Students
The Bolton comedian takes time out from his busy schedule to deliver a masterclass to students at Salford City College.
Performing Arts students at Salford City College, Pendleton Sixth Form Centre were treated to a very special visit this week, when Bolton comedian, writer and director Peter Kay took time out to deliver a comedy masterclass at the Dronfield Road centre.
Peter Kay, who is originally from Farnworth, spent time talking to students about his experiences as a comedian and writer and also offered tips and advice to the budding actors and comedians, as well as offering sound advice on surviving in such competitive industries.
The tables were also turned when the students had the opportunity to perform their own comedy sketches to Peter Kay, who was delighted to see their efforts and had some great words of encouragement for the students.
Although originally starting his university career in Liverpool, Peter Kay eventually found himself developing his skills at the University of Salford. The students in attendance at the masterclass were inspired by the stories the local celebrity had to tell and had many questions about his career and how they could apply his advice to their own futures.
After the masterclass, Peter Kay said: “It’s great see young students drawing inspiration from my own experience and advice. The greatest message I can give them is to do something you love!”
One student commented: “It’s been absolutely amazing to have this opportunity! I can’t believe I’ve not only been able to meet one of the top comedians in the country but that we’ve also been able to get some fantastic advice off him too.”
