Plumbing & Welding

Basic Plumbing Studies - Certificate

The learner undertakes a short OCNW course (Preparation for Employment) as an introduction to the construction industry.

The learner will then undertake the main vocational course - City & Guilds 6129 Technical Certificate in Plumbing Studies Level 2.

This is a full time course run over two days per week.

The course is structured around a City and Guilds Syllabus, lessons take the form of lectures and practical course work.

The level of qualification is open to those learners having attained Level 2 in Adult Literacy and Numeracy, or four GCSE grades D or above.

The core knowledge units are:
Safety in plumbing activities.
Key plumbing principles.
Common plumbing processes.
Cold water systems.
Domestic hot water systems.
Sanitation systems.
Central heating systems.
Electrical supply and earth continuity.
Sheet lead weathering.
Environmental awareness.
Effective working relationships.

The end test is a GOLA on line examination.

This course is based at City Campus.

Plumbing - GMOCN

this is a basic plumbing course aimed at those who wish to sample the plumbing industry.

The course is designed to give the student a basic, specialist job knowledge and practical ability and to form an excellent foundation to further studies within the Industry.

The Mandatory Units are:
• Maintain the Safe Working Environment when undertaking non complex plumbing work activities
• Maintain effective plumbing working relationships
• Contribute to the improvement of the plumbing work environment
• Install non complex plumbing systems and components
• De-commission non-complex plumbing systems
• Maintain non complex plumbing systems and components

This course is based at City campus.

Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG)
