ECDL Part 1
ECDL stands for European Computer Driving Licence. It is a level Two course, which gives a wide knowledge of how some of the packages in the Microsoft Suite can be used. The completed course also provides the student with IT users certificates at levels one and two.
These are provided by BCS on completion of the ECDL qualification and were introduced to allow education to fund the courses. No extra work is required by the student to gain these certificates. The course involves up to forty five weeks, at two hours a week of tuition in order to gain the required eight modules. Completed exams will be passed to the course leader for checking within 2 weeks of exams being taken and stored.
In order for the student to gain an ECDL certificate eight units need to be achieved, Two of which; theory of the computer and theory of the legal and health and safety issues, are externally marked. Other units are; word processing, spreadsheets, communications, databases, file management and presentations.
NVQ For IT Users Level 2 (ITQ)PhotoshopPhotoshop can be used to edit digital images and photographs and would be suitable for developing skills in design and manipulating digital photographs. It is used widely in graphic design, advertising industries and is the industry standard image manipulation software.
The first part of the course allows the student to experience and develop techniques and skills in the software package producing a number of design and photographic products through a set of exercises .
The second part of the course allows the student to develop a design brief and produce their own piece of individual work which will utilise the skills and knowledge that they have gained on the course.
The final evening you will look at work produced, and is an opportunity for students to see what others have achieved.
